On the latest Sports As a Job Podcast we were joined by Timothy Bryson from the University of Maryland College Park, who serves as Program Director for Student-Athlete Career Development. Timothy’s job is to help students “secure the bag,” whether it be graduate school, post-grad internship, or a full-time job. He oversees the summer internship program called, “The Internship Academy,” employer relations - not only in the DMV, but across the country, the First Year Transition Program as well as their Fellowship Program.

Learn how to “secure your bag,” with Timothy Bryson! We were able to pull a few tips on how to improve your personal brand. Personal Brand can help in getting new opportunities. Here are the tips we got from the episode.

Start a personal website.

Free to start! It's a digital platform to house and share all of your experiences. When you're ready, purchase your name domain. It is an investment, like getting a haircut or nails done.

Have the same username on all social media.

Not required, but it's helpful! Can people find you on social media? Having the same username will allow people to find you easily.

Have set rules on social media.

What personal rules guide your practice? Post and re-share information that align with your values and purpose. Think before you press send.

Is your profile picture the right one?

This is your first impression. It should be clear whose profile it is. You only get one first impression, so make yours count!
