Conner Pyrc is in our sports industry spotlight. A creative at heart, he is seeking to make a career out of his passion. His career goal is working in college athletics communication producing creative content and managing social media. Recently he announced he has received an amazing opportunity. We reached out to hear more about it.
Here is a creative video made by Conner announcing where his next opportunity will be
What are you currently doing and what was the position you got hired for?
I am about to graduate from Ferris State where I have been an intern for their Creative Media team in athletics for the last three years. My next opportunity that I got hired for will be as an Associate Producer/Intern for Spartan Vision at Michigan State University. I am excited to get started and experiencing D1 athletics firsthand. I have been at a D2 school for 4 years so I’m super excited to make that jump.
Was there any doubt you would have got this new opportunity? Why do you think they chose you?

I don't know there’s always doubt, I’m confident in myself but getting that first gig is a scary thing. Above all I am very grateful for this opportunity.

I think I was chosen because of my storytelling abilities. I think a lot of people can create hype videos and make exciting content but I don’t know if everyone can tell a story and make people feel emotion.
Anyone you'd like to shout out?

I would like to shout out, Rob Bentley, Harrison Watt, and Scott Vandersloot. These are three guys who gave me my first shot in college athletics and gave me a lot of freedom, mentor ship and guidance.
Whats your advice for anyone out there looking for their first or next opportunity in sports?

Look everywhere and keep your head up. There are a lot of opportunities in sports but you have to be able to move to those opportunities and take advantage of them when they come. Utilize social media to market yourself! It’s a great tool to network and get your name out there. So take advantage and show off your work!
